This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website, contact us, or book a consultation, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We are an education consultancy in Calgary, Alberta.

1. Who we are

2. Which privacy laws apply
For personal information we collect in Alberta as a private-sector organization, Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) is the main privacy law. PIPA requires meaningful consent, limited collection, safeguards, and a way for you to see and correct your information.
The federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) can also apply when personal information crosses a provincial or national border in the course of commercial activity. A common example is an application file we send to a school outside Alberta because you asked us to. We follow PIPEDA’s fair-information principles: accountability, identifying purposes, consent, limiting collection, limiting use, disclosure, and retention, accuracy, safeguards, openness, individual access, and a way to challenge our compliance.
Canada’s anti-spam law (CASL) applies to promotional email and similar commercial electronic messages.
3. Information we collect
We collect what we need for the purpose you came to us for, and not a general profile of your life.
From people who use the website or the contact form:
- Your name, email, phone number, and the message you send
- Technical details our host needs to deliver the page, such as IP address and browser type in ordinary server logs
- If you start a paid consultation, a short-lived record in your browser’s session storage so we can finish the booking after you return from payment
From students, and from parents or guardians who contact us about a student:
- Identity and contact details, and, when an application needs them, date of birth or identity-document details
- Education history, grades, language-test scores, program interests, and notes about goals
- Information a parent or guardian gives us when they inquire, book, or pay for a student
- Documents you email or otherwise send for an application
From bookings and payments:
- The time you selected, the answers on the booking form, and whether payment succeeded
- Payment confirmation and the limited billing details our card processor, Stripe, shares with us. We do not store your full card number on this website. Card details are entered in the secure form on this page.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 through this website. If you are under 18, please involve a parent or guardian in inquiries, bookings, and any decision to share your information with a school.
4. Why we use it
We use personal information to:
- Reply to questions
- Hold a consultation time, take payment, and confirm the booking
- Prepare applications and documents you ask us to handle
- Keep records we need for tax, accounting, and disputes
- Keep the website available and protect it from abuse
- Send service messages about a booking or file you asked us to open
- Send promotional messages only when CASL allows it, usually because you consented, and always with a working unsubscribe option
We identify the purpose at or before collection. If we later want to use the information for a new purpose, we will ask.
5. Consent
Sending a contact message, booking a consultation, or giving us documents is consent to collect, use, and disclose that information for the purpose described here and on the form.
You may withdraw consent by contacting us. Withdrawal is subject to legal or contractual limits. For example, we may need to keep a payment record. Stopping consent may mean we cannot finish a service. We will tell you that before we stop, unless the law requires us to act sooner.
When a parent or guardian writes or books for a student, we treat their instructions as consent for that student’s file, unless we have a reason to think they are not entitled to give it.
8. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, and for any longer period Canadian tax or other law requires. Payment and accounting records are generally kept for six years. A consultation hold that is never paid expires and is not kept as a client file.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.
9. How we protect it
We use safeguards that fit a small consultancy: access limited to people who need the file, reputable service providers, and card data handled by Stripe rather than stored on this site. No method of sending or storing information is perfectly secure. Use a current browser, and avoid sending passport images or similar documents through a channel you do not trust when a safer option is available.
10. Accuracy, access, and correction
Please tell us if your contact details, education history, or application facts change. You may ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and for a correction if it is wrong or incomplete. We may need to confirm your identity first. We respond within the time PIPA or PIPEDA requires. If we cannot provide something, we will tell you why. A usual reason is that releasing it would reveal another person’s information.
11. Complaints
Write to us first at Info@myeducationexperience.com. We will look into the concern and reply.
If you are not satisfied, you may contact the commissioner that covers the issue:
- Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, for matters under Alberta PIPA: oipc.ab.ca
- Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, for matters under PIPEDA, including many cross-border commercial disclosures: priv.gc.ca
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services or the law change. The date at the top of this page will change with it. The version published here is the one that applies.
